Blurp!

Over the weekend, my family and I saw the new Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3. It was great! Sooooo many baby raccoons.

A new character was also introduced. I had no idea he was new, of course, since I'm not that knowledgeable about comics and what not, but when I got home I googled "furry creature guardians movie new" (ha) and I found Blurp. That's his name! I was like "I should totally crochet one of those!" But I also don't want to get another phone call from anyone in mouse ears, so ya know, I decided to just make a tiny one and post it here for free. Because its little and cute and I think anyone could use a baby Blurp.

This pattern is free and not to be sold anywhere, so don't. If you're wanting to make these and sell them, don't do that. I mean, I can't stop you, but it's not a good idea.

TIPS? Yeah I got some tips:

  • Use a stitch marker when working with fur yarn. You won't be able to "see" stitches and you'll need to count them by feel.

  • Using a different yarn will give you different results. Lighter gauge yarn will make Blurp tiny, and Heavier yarn and a larger hook with make him bigger.

  • When you're finished, you might need to trim the fur all over.

Row 1: With fur yarn and a G hook, ch 4. Sl st into 2nd ch from hook, sc in 2 chs, ch 3, sl st in second ch from hook, sc in next ch.

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. This has made two ears right next to each other, one larger. Sew the Ears to the Head with the larger ear on top. Weave in ends.

Finishing:

Depending on what yarn you use, you will probably want to trim the fur all over. The Ears and face especially will need trimming.

Insert the post of safety eyes into the head, securing with a dab of glue.

Cut a wide crescent from black felt. Glue to face. Cut a long skinny strip of white felt for teeth. Apply superglue to the black felt smile and glue the teeth strip in place. Use a black pen to draw lines through the teeth strip.

Add blush or marker to the centers of the ears.
